While The Wizard of Oz featured munchkins singing about lollipops, Return to Oz features Dorothy being taken to a grimy mental hospital, strapped down on a bed to be electroshocked … and then things get worse.ĭescribed by one movie critic as “ bleak, creepy and sometimes terrifying“, Return to Oz is one of those movies that makes one wonder why they were marketed to children.
